Bun After Midnight

A one-stitch, no-shaping finger-knit make-along

A round, chunky brown plush bat bun with dark folded wings, pointed ears, a spiral swirl on its belly, small fangs and closed sleepy eyes, sitting on a cream chair.
Concept renderYour finished Bun will be uniquely yours.

You do not need to understand the whole pattern today. Just do the one step in front of you.

Before you begin

Gather your supplies

Tap each one as you find it. Everything can sit in one basket beside you.

Nine items to go.

The whole thing at a glance

Four flat pieces. That is all.

Every piece is a rectangle or a chain. Nothing gets shaped, and no row ever changes its count.

Body

Knit one flat panel, then fold it once at the halfway line.

12 loops x 22 rows

Wings

Two small rectangles. Cinch each tip into a soft point.

4 loops x 6 rows, make two

Ears

Two short chains, each folded in half so the bend makes the tip.

4-loop chain, make two

Spiral

One long chain, coiled on the front and tacked down.

24-loop chain

The order you will work in

  • Body
  • Face
  • Wings
  • Ears

Next up: the four hand moves. You will learn one at a time, and then practice them on a small square before touching the real body panel.
